Fort Scott mourns Charlotte

Fort Scott, Kan. -- One of Fort Scott's best and brightest is gone. Charlotte Faye Lunt, 70, philanthropist, active volunteer, gracious hostess and caring friend, died Thursday as the result of a brief illness. Her passing took many by surprise. Gala to feature unique entertainment, music

Nevada, Mo. -- The Nevada Regional Medical Center Foundation will host its second annual gala Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Billed as Mardi Gras Masquerade Gala the event will start at 6 p.m. with a social hour, cocktails and appetizers. The Cottey College Jazz Combo will perform contemporary jazz favorites. Relay for Life fall festival to take place on Oct. 20

Fort Scott, Kan. -- Bourbon County Relay for Life planners are getting in the spirit of the fall season with the first big fund raising event of the organization's 2008 campaign; the Relay for Life Fall Festival. Dobbs family struggles to recover from tragedy

Fort Scott, Kan. -- On Aug. 22, 2007, the lives of Shae, Tyler and Leslie Dobbs were changed forever. Shortly after 4 p.m., the minivan that the three children's father was driving was hit by an another vehicle traveling on the same road. This collision robbed the three Dobbs children of their father, Callie Dobbs, an eight-month-old brother Cecil, a seven-month unborn sibling and their father's girlfriend Kristel Pearson, who was like a mother to the children, Wanita Tate the children's grandmother said.. ...

Fort Scott community revitalization team updates goals

Fort Scott, Kan. -- Members of five visiting action teams spawned from a community-wide revitalization project two years ago provided reports on Thursday about how each group is progressing. Forty-one residents attended the two-hour meeting inside the Fort Scott Middle School to hear the update, as well as to pitch in ideas that could further the goals.
