Maxine Koch of Fort Scott will celebrate her 82nd birthday today. Each Monday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m., a group of women sits in the parlor of First Christian Church, 1st and Judson Streets, Fort Scott, crocheting, knitting, latch hooking, or just sharing fellowship. Sunday evening, July 29, Fort Scott Director of Human Resources Bob Johnson was notified of an equipment malfunction at the Fort Scott Municipal Pool. Exhaustive efforts to correct the problem failed. Johnson said the pump that circulates the pool's water through the chlorine base, which helps the pool maintain the proper chlorine levels quit operating properly.
