Tiger basketball camp starts Monday Fort Scott High School head boys' basketball coach Jeff DeLaTorre has announced that the FSHS boys' basketball camp begins Monday at the FSHS gymnasium. USD 234 board has high hopes for building sale

USD 234 officials said that the old Fort Scott Middle School building could be sold as early as next week. James Mayfield, a businessman from Salina, is involved with the most recent proposal to purchase the 89-year old structure located at 412 S. National Ave., USD 234 Business Manager Alan Drake said. Mayfield has a contract with the school district to purchase the building for $45,000, with the closing date for the sale set to take place on or before June 15, Drake said...

100 YEARS AGO (1907) The first sun stroke of the summer occurred this forenoon when Mrs. C.W. McMillan, 418 South Broadway, was rendered unconscious in the yard at her home. Dr. R.W. Bartholomew was called. The physician stated that the patient's condition was serious, but should not prove fatal. The weather today was something terrific. The humidity added to the discomfort. More people complained of the heat than at almost any of the hottest days of last summer...
