Tri-Valley raising funds to finish project

Tri-Valley Developmental Services in Fort Scott still needs to raise several thousand dollars in order to begin construction on a new greenhouse by this spring, company officials said this week. April 12 is the deadline for TVDS officials to come up with $106,000 in matching grant funds in order to start building the $150,000, 2,160-square-foot greenhouse near the company's Fort Scott facility, which would house the center's horticulture therapy program, TVDS horticultural therapist Barbara McCord said. ...

Correctional Center implements plan to reduce expenses

As a way of cutting back on unnecessary expenses, officials at the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center are changing the ways they provide medication to inmates. SEKRCC Program Coordinator Jimmy Nichols, who met with Bourbon County commissioners on Friday to discuss the new plan, said inmates will no longer receive over-the-counter medications whenever they request them.
