City confirms Miller, Nelson demolition plan

The City of Fort Scott will start tearing down the Miller Block and Nelson Block buildings after it receives permission from the state and the weather improves, City Manager Richard Nienstedt said at the Tuesday city commission meeting. An exact day for commencement of demolition is not known, but hopefully by the end of the month all the preparatory work will be completed and the long-awaited project can begin, he said...

On Dec. 22 Joe and Shirley White was guest of their daughter, John and Susan Whitehead in Garland. They enjoyed an early Christmas with John's boys, and all had a good time opening their Christmas presents. Frank and Gypsy Hereford and their daughter, and grandsons, Becky Canaday, Evan and Cory, traveled to Pittsburg to the home of their niece, Tom and Debbie Laidler and family for their Christmas dinner and gift exchange. ...
