Scottish Rite tours allow a look at organization's history

Every room of the Scottish Rite Temple in Fort Scott contains a little bit of history of the ages-old organization, and tour-goers will get a chance to experience that history during special holiday tours of the building next month. FSCC football team seeking sponsors for bowl trip

Going to a bowl game at the junior college level isn't cheap. In order to cover expenses and meet ticket sales requirements for the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl, Fort Scott Community College's football team is seeking 75 sponsors. The sponsorships, which are $150 each, are tax deductible...

Dewaine and Beverly Geiger attended a reunion of the Martha Norris OES Grand Family in Kansas City recently. The Group served as Grand Officers of Eastern Star in 1992-1993. Mrs. Ruth Muse Lee, Kansas City, made the arrangements which included a trip to the dinner theater where they enjoyed dinner, followed by the delightful play, "Over The River And Through The Woods" starring Marion Ross who will be remembered as starring the role of mother on the Happy Days series several years ago. ...

Wilma Woodring Wells, age 86, passed away, November 11, 2006 at her home in Lakewood, Colorado. She was born April 19, 1920 in Richards, Missouri, the daughter of J. T. and Anna L. Hensley Woodring. She grew up in Richards and went to school, graduating with the class of 1938. She married William B. Wells on September 3, 1942 in Lamar, Colorado. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Ron Wells and wife, Judy, Lakewood, Colorado and Larry Wells and wife, Beverly, Arvada, Colorado; a daughter, Judith Ann Jorgenson, Scott City; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Stancer, Fort Scott, Fern Keele and husband, Earl, Grain Valley, Missouri, Fay Steele and husband, Bob, Fort Scott; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and daughter, Billy and Babie Wells; a son-in-law, Wayne Jorgenson; and three brothers, Ernest, Everrett and Eldon Woodring. Services were held on November 17, 2006 in the Horan-McConatey Funeral Home in Denver, with burial in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
