Its great to be a barbershopper!
I am super excited because this weekend I will be rehearsing with my barbershop quartet for the first time in quite some time. The name of my quartet is By Default. I sing bass, my older brother sings baritone, another older brother sings tenor and a friend sings lead.
I sang with the Joplin Tristatesmen Barbershop Chorus for over two years but had to miss rehearsals so that I could go to work. Now I have moved to and I cannot afford to drive to Joplin and back once a week.
I miss singing with the chorus, I had so much fun singing those old songs and some of the new songs. When it comes down to it, I just love singing with other people. I don't like singing by myself.
We are preparing to do some singing around Christmas time so we need to rehearse our songs. I have been away from barbershop since March or so and I can't wait to make that music again.
Barbershop is growing again and it is getting better every year. I would love to hear from any barbershoppers in the area, both young and old. After all music truly is a global language.
